You Guessed It

I bet you already guessed what the weekend plans are? Yup that's right, the pantry.
This house has the worlds worst storage system. We had to get shelving units and put them in the area we designated as the pantry just to have a place to store something. As we increased in food we also had to increase in shelf space and with yall knowing how I hate to buy anything can imagine the unorganized, miss matched shelving units we collected and put up calling it a pantry. I would take a picture of it but I just can't bring myself to show it off in it's current condition.
Saying that, this weekend with the cold front moving in makes a great opportunity to rectify that situation. I have finished my supply list and checked it twice so now I am ready to get started on stocking but first I am going to redo the whole pantry area and build some real shelves, with real wood from the store not the scrap pile. Aren't you proud of me?
I might take some before and after pics and show it that way.
Let the sawdust fly!

  1. I love the smell of sawdust! My dad offered to build me shelves in my basement in Colorado for my birthday one year. He asked me what dimensions and heights I wanted. I took him to the room where the shelves would be and told him I want one 'this high' and another 'right here' and the top one 'here.' He looked at me and wrinkled his brow and said, 'THOSE aren't heights and dimensions!' I said, 'That's what I want. I want the bottom shelf just off the floor, the middle shelf at perfect height for ME to set things without bending or stooping and the top one where I can just see over it without climbing on anything.' He shook his head and mumbled something about daughters. Then I stood away from the wall and stretched out my arm so my fingers were just touching the cinder block. He looked puzzled and then said, 'Let me guess. That's how deep you want them, right?' I smiled.

He just shook his head again and then built the most wonderful shelves, just like I wanted.

  3. WWRWH, That is what I call custom shelves.

Steve, Anything to help out but I think you will be disappointed. It will not be a overly built, extraordinary impressive shelving unit. It will just be some basic, unpainted and quickly built shelves.

    Thank yall for the comments
