I hate to say it, but I told you it was a good read...it freaked me out too. Sweet Wife wanted to read it, said go for it, but you'll cry. She did. As far as I'm concerned it should be a must read for all intelligent people.
Great book, read it twice, cried both times. Just finished Light's Out and The Walk, definately both well worth a second read also! JWR's new novel Survivors was ok, but I didn't like it as well as Patriots. I am starting a new series the kids at school have been talking about, The Maze Runner Series, a little different from what I usually read, but sounds interesting. Shar
This book got me moving in the right direction! I am now 6 weeks into it and have enough food and cleaning products for at least 6 months. Thought One Second After was a very good read but didn't enjoy Patriots as well. Although, it had a lot of good information, just wasn't as good. Will order both Light's Out and The Walk.
Kymber - The wife said she did not want to read it because the reactions I was having to it. So I told it to her. She was not hungry anymore.
Stephen - I do not look at hungry the same anymore. and the bad part of it is, this could very well happen to us all.
Shar - I will have to get Light's out and also The Walk. Thanks for letting me know about them.
Anony - Good for you on the 6 month supply. You are way ahead of over half the population. Your right, If this book does not get you on fire then your wood wet.
Part of me want to run and say I know I am not ready. For fear of being overwhelmed which by many reactions I am sure it will do. On the other hand, I really don't want to be one of those people who are like ostrich with their head in the sand. They'll get their butt blown off before they know what is happening.
With all this book talk, and I could talk books all day, it made me think about a couple other books that while they may not be "survivalist" type novels, they will definately make you think, probably too much! Ayn Rand's Anthem and George Orwell's 1984, these two books deeply affected me. Shar
i couldn't agree with you more...that book scared the living beejeezuz out of me...and i have read some scarey books!!!

ReplyDeleteRead it last month. Very thought provoking, especially with 3 grown kids that are diabetic. Kind of put us in a step-up mode.
ReplyDeleteOh sure another book to find time to read.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on stepping up John. It gave me a new focus on what is important.
ReplyDeleteOh Rob, You have to find the time for this one buddy. It will open your eyes to a whole new level.
