Not Enough And Getting Worse

It reached 106 degrees today and my AC is on the fritz once more. I have the repair man coming out in the morning, again, to asses the situation. If I had the money to fix it right in the first place then we would not be having all these problems. We have been patching a leaky hole with bubble gum so to speak.
This would not be that bad but I am needing the money for the A&M trip next week so maybe we can patch it one more time before winter and that would give me enough time to save up for a new unit.

On a good note, we are doing our best to keep the animals cool and alive and so far it is working. The gardens are just about to give up the fight though. I water them day and night and the soil is dusty an hour after I water. I might end up having to build a hoop house over all the raised beds just to keep the Texas sun off them.
I have done this nasty heat for 40 years now and I am just about done with it.

No pics today, nothing outside looks good enough to take pictures of anyway.

  1. That's rough. I would croak in short order without air up here, it's hitting near 100 even in the mountains and the humidity is terrible. I hope you can last out. I know people lived without air for centuries but I swear I don't know how.

  2. I can remember as a child few if any families here in Florida had air, heck we thought if you had a window fan you were living in hog heaven. Like Arsenius said, I'd die now.
Most spring gardens down here are on the way out too. Too much heat and humidity.

  3. We are usually in that situation in NW Kansas. Hasn't been too bad this year. Few days above 100 and we have had about 5 inches of rain in the past week. My prayers go out to you. Hope things can improve.

  4. I'm sorry you're having a/c troubles, Redneck ...both for the discomfort and the expense. We're having truck troubles down here. Those sudden unforeseen expenses really dampen the mood.

I hope it won't keep you guys from making the trip down here next week. But if it does, just let us know and we'll plan for next time. Keep your chin up.

  5. Hey, Ky always needs more rednecks! lol. Sorry to hear about the bad luck.

  6. Thank yall for the comments. Sorry it took a couple of days to comment back but my hands have been full.

Arsenius the Hermit-I guess if you never had it then you wouldn't know what your missing.

Stephen-My Dad tells me stories of living without any modern conveniences when he was growing up. I guess my generation is the first that has had it all. I would rather live in an apartment than to without it now.

John-They always work themselves out and this is no different. Thanks for the thoughts.

Hossboss-I hope yalls truck problems turn around for ya.
Everything is still a go for this week and can't wait to meet yall.

SFG-If I go anywhere it will be North where Kelle lives. My family is from KY and the last time I was there it was just as hot.

  7. You should move to Tennessee!!!!

  8. Anna - I agree. I have kinfolks and friends out that way and would love to move there. Get me a job and I will be there Monday.
