It All Depends

The weekend plans all depend on the weather. A cold front lingers just to the North and a freeze is said to be upon us Sunday morning. Cold rain and wind is the forecast for most of the day tomorrow.

Tonight we will be at the monthly group meeting listening to two great speakers. Several new people will be attending for their first time so I will have to be on my best behavior. The once handful of concerned folks is getting bigger and bigger every month.
Not too long ago I can remember being the odd ball by living the way I do, now I am a commodity.

Tomorrow I really wanted to get more done on the giant bird house, but it looks like the weather will keep that from happening. If I can, I will work on the roof but if I am made to stay in the shop then I will start on the nest boxes. Either way at least I am getting something done on this lingering project.

Tomorrow night we will be living it up. We were invited to a big crawdad boil a couple towns over. I know it's a lot of work for little food, but it's worth it. This is my kind of eating right here.

Sunday the plan was to set out the tomato plants. The greenhouse has done it's job and the plants need to be in the ground. The predicted freeze is making it where I don't want to risk it. I have enough gallon jugs to put over them for protection if I do set them out.
I might just go ahead and do it and take the risk. This time last year my tomatoes were already planted for two weeks.
This should be the last freeze of the year.
The peppers won't go out for another month or so.

That's all I got for now. Have a great weekend,

  1. I have had a hard time keeping my plants alive inside. Is there a magical secret to starting plants indoors? I think I've had mine too long or something, I started them months ago. I'm going to check the library for some books on the subject, this is year two that mine look great and then fizzle.

I'm glad the weather is yucky. I need to stay inside and clean my house. Too bad there isn't a chili cookoff this weekend, perfect weather for it ☺

    1. Thanks for the comment Kelly. Yes there is a magical secret to starting plants and keeping them alive until you plant them. But what I do probably will not work for you. I found my way through trial and error spending a large amount of time doing different things until one worked. So just one answer to the question is imposable because I don't know what you are planting, where, soil and water.

I agree that this weather is for chili but the rain would have kept me from cooking today.

  2. It's pretty cold up here, expecting temperatures to drop. So much for putting anything in the ground here.
I wish you luck with your tomatoes, hopefully they won't freeze.

I agree with Kelly, perfect weather for a chili cookoff!

    1. Yea Sandy it's not going to happen this weekend. It's Sunday morning and the wind is around 50 MPH out of the North. 37 degrees here and I am not getting out to garden.

The wind and rain would have made chili cooking almost imposable but the temps are spot on.

  3. At 4:30 this morning it was warm and breezy; then a cold front moved in for about 6 hours and it was cold enough for a jacket. Now it's warm again. Crazy weather!

Enjoy the mudbugs! And I agree with Kelly too...this is the weekend for chili!

    1. The mudbugs were great Queen. It is cold and windy here. Chili would have been great is it was not for the wind and rain.

  4. You have stayed on task with your passions and were actually ahead of the game. Much of society is catching up!

  5. Crawfish! Yum!
    70 some degrees here tonight.
Glad to hear you are getting more people. Have a blessed weekend! ♥

    1. Thanks for the comment LindaG, the mudbugs were fantastic.
