A Little Work

Being that the weather was bad, I did not expect to get much done anyway.

Friday's preppers/homesteaders meeting turned out to be a full house. We had a couple of great speakers talking about Agenda 21 and the Texas Naturalist Organization. I always take something away from our little get togethers.

It rained all day Saturday so I had the opportunity to spend some time in the shop cleaning and building the nesting boxes for the giant bird house I am building the wife.
I don't know if it was the weather or not but I was tired Saturday and decided to take a nap. I never sleep and I hardly ever get tired so I was kinda worried about being wore out. I almost didn't even make it to the crawfish boil because of it.

Sunday I had to make a run into town for some paint because I do not keep pink paint on hand. I found some on the clearance rack for $2.00
I spent some time making the nesting boxes look good. I really like the way it turned out. I even took the time to paint the insides of each box.

I found out the hard way last night that when your body says to slow down you should do it. I spent the night in the ER because my heart was doing some really weird stuff. I normally would not have worried about it but the pain and the way it was beating had me thinking something was wrong, turns out there was. Nothing serious at the moment, I am just low on some stuff that helps it stay in rhythm.
Turns out the meds I take and the weight I have lost do not mix anymore. So the good news is I get to cut back on the high blood pressure medication. The bad news is I need to slow down a little and get more rest. Another 20 pounds and I should be off them completely.

Who has time for rest? You should see what next weekend has to offer.

That's all I got for now.

  2. Please slow down and get some rest! Whatever needs to be done can wait until you are well rested. Love those nestboxes! Your project is coming together so well, it looks great!

    1. Thanks Queen, slowing down doesn't mean stopping. I don't have the time to stop but I can take it a little slower.

    1. Thanks DFW, I rested yesterday and I am more tired than before. I guess I need to learn how to be lazy.

  4. Those nest boxes are the bomb! Your wife must really love how it is all coming together. My hubby also has heart problems like yours. They actually had to shock his heart back into rhythm twice now. He has learned the hard way to rest otherwise he ends up in the hospital and you can't rest there. Hope that last little bit of weight just slids right off of ya!

    1. Thanks Denise, I didn't have to get shocked, I was afraid of that though. They were going to admit me for a day or two but I didn't have time for that nonsense.

  6. If you won't rest for your own sake then at least rest for ours - please. I don't know how your wife and kids would cope without you, God forbid, but your 'family' on this website would be lost without your humour and words of wisdom. Also, you have folks to marry soon ! Feet up for a while - and turn that whirring brain of yours down a few notches while you're at it. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. X

    1. X, Thanks for the kind words. I am taking this latest issue as a good thing. I am moving in the right direction even though I need to check in with the doc more than once a year now. That way they can regulate the medications a little more.
I should be completely off those nasty things in a few short months.

    1. Thanks Kim. I guess my mind and body are not on the same page. They need to get together and figure out something out. One is telling me go, go, go and the other is saying no, no, no.

  9. Your blood pressure might have been dipping and that might have made you feel sluggish and worn out. It can also cause your heart to do some weird things --- hope they checked your potassium as well.

I always say, we should give our body the same preventive maintenance as we do our machinery and vehicles.

Blessings to you --- I'm always so happy to see what's going on with your side of Texas!

    1. Lana, the potassium level is what was out of whack. It was really, really low.
We are back on track now and everything is good.

    1. Thanks Anne, I like the "bird hotel" name. I think I am going to rename the giant bird house that.
