Hot And Boring

My weekend will be just that, hot and boring, lacking luster.
It will be too hot to do much during the day so everything will have to get done early in the morning and late in the evening. This is my forty first Texas summer and they seem to be getting worse and worse every year.

Some of the weekend plans are;
I need to build some nesting boxes for the rabbit tractor. I have decided to breed three does at a time. That way they will birth at once and I will have somewhere between 15 to 30 babies. That will start a cycle so I will be in a fresh supply of rabbits monthly for most of the year. I have already started marketing them and getting the word out.

I also have to move the solar clothes dryer from it's current location that is too shaded in the evenings to a more sunny spot. I have never liked it where I put it anyway. That means I need to dig more holes and mix more concrete.

I have to go back to get another load of granite sometime this weekend. A place up the road has piles and piles of huge slabs of granite and smaller broke pieces they said I can have. Last weekend I stopped by and grabbed some of the ones we could get in the back of the truck.
I use most of the small pieces for walkways and such and the bigger ones will be cabinet tops in my outdoor kitchen. While I was there the guy gave me those lockers you see in the picture and a few more little things that I really don't need.

Other than that it's just going to a normal stay at home weekend trying to keep everything alive in this heat.
I hope y'all have a good one.
See ya on the flip side,
MDR

  1. MDR,

Great find on the pieces of granite, grab them while this guys giving them to you. Granite can be costly.

Like you it's going to be quiet around the homestead. We will do a few things outside early and late, the rest will be done inside.
    Temperatures are on the rise.

Grass needs cutting, not something I'm looking forward to doing this weekend.

    1. Thanks Sandy,
Some are so heavy I need to haul the tractor over there to lift them but I will get all I can pick up myself.

I don't mind the mowing as much as I mind the weedeating.
      Thanks for the comment

  3. MDR -you're hot and boring and i am sick and toxic! oh the black flies have been bad this year! i got sick from bites a few weeks ago, needed 3 days to just wander around crazy, and then got eaten alive at our volunteer fire department training on wednesday - i have been sick out of my mind ever since!

anyway, enough of my whining. i have been looking at the temps in texas (actually, jambaloney looks all the time. he's crazy about checking the weather all over the world! he's a weather nutjob!). so don't overdue it and enjoy some in the house time.

    your friend,
