College Kid

I am a college kid again. Yea, no kidding.
Yesterday was the re-start of what I started so many years ago but never finished. After reading what all I have to do I am now second guessing and wondering what in the world have got myself into.
It's not like I had nothing to do or was bored. I have plenty to keep me busy and that's if I never even left the house. This just added another eight to ten hours of work on me a week.
Never the less, if I can keep the reason why I did this in the back of my mind the whole time then this should be okay.

The rains kept me from working on the taking down the old house this weekend so that has put me another week behind. Maybe this coming weekend I will get something done down there.

I got my fan hooked up to the Solar Beer Can Heater and Sunday with full sun and 37 degrees outside, it was a nice 60 degrees in the shop. Not bad for free heat.

That "Preppers" meeting I told you about has turning into a full fledged deal now. Saturday I did two consultations with some of the group by going over to their houses and helping them set up a "Too Do" list on getting started. The one thing I have to say is that I am not an expert on anything and I told them there are hundreds of different ways to do everything I do. I share what works for me and what I have had success with in North Texas. What works for me will not work for the guy living up North. I have spent a lot of time and money doing it wrong.
This has turned into a monthly thing now. I enjoy talking with these folks and sharing what I know.

That's all I got for now

And whoopee on the prepping help. Maybe that is what you should focus on in future...?

    1. Thanks Dani, I have done some consulting work with folks for a small fee before and I hope this leads into something bigger like that.
      Thanks for the comment.

  2. I went back to school as an old person too. The experience was totally different than when I was young and foolish. You won't regret it!

  3. Congrats on continuing your "book" education!
I'd love to attend one of your preppers meetings, it's such a great idea maybe we should get something like that going here (North East Texas)!

    1. Queen, that is not too far for me to attend every once in a while. Let me know if you can get it together and need a speaker. Plus if you want to drive over here one day just email me and I will give you the time and place.
      Thanks for the comment.

It's been way too wet here, too.

  6. Have fun with the college thing. I went to college a few years back and got a degree in Veterinary technology. I never really did much with it but the medical knowledge has really paid off. Better rain than drought :)

    1. Thanks Coley.
The degree I am after will be the same, just for knowledge purposes and to say I finished something. I don't intend to work in the field of study but if it happens then I will be ready.

  7. I think college would be more fun when your older! I hope it all goes well and doesn't take up too much of your time ☺

I'm so impressed with the solar heater, I WILL MAKE THE HUBS BUILD ONE!!!!

The preppers group is awesome! You are all lucky to have found each other! There is a homesteading group at my library and I have been too lazy to go. You have inspired me to go now! I would love to meet like minded people that live around me.

    1. So far so good on the school Kelly.
Make sure on your heater you make it big enough. Too small and it won't heat up enough.
Please blog about the homesteader group and if they are needing a speaker, you are not too far off for me to visit.

  8. Kudos to you on taking classes! If it means anything, having started college straight out of high school, I was SUPER intimidated by classmates that were a number of years older than I was, and I was an A/B student. Life experience can't begin to compare to book learning. You're gonna ROCK it! :)

    1. Thanks Rae. I can tell a difference from being in college when I was 19 to now at 41. I can tell I care a little more about it.
      Thanks for the comment.
