Sunday With This And That

I just picked this little wood stove up, isn't it cute. The guy I got it from needed a saw I was not using and I needed this little potbelly so we traded. I put a regular kitchen chair next to it to show just how small this thing is. I have never seen one like it.
After some new paint I think it will be a great addition to the bathhouse.
Homemade, Grape wine and a Mason Jar.
Hmmm, I have heard that somewhere before.
What better way to kick back and watch the Super Bowl.

  1. Nice little stove. I think one that size would be better suited to burn coal than wood.

  2. Would you have the stove sand blasted first or just paint over with Rust-oleum??

  3. Thats an itty bitty stove! Lol. By the way I think the Audi commercial (vampire one), the apocolptic Chevy commercial, and the Voice commercial were good!

  9. Swamp Dog - Thanks and you maybe right. I will have to try it and see.

Rob - I do not have a sand blaster but I do plan to do a once over with some fine grit sandpaper and then blow it clean before repainting.

coley - I agree, they were some of the good ones.

  10. All you need now is some 'Black Cat Stove Polish.' She'll look like new. Fine trade.

  13. Stephen - And some elbow grease. Thanks for the comment.

John - Not to rub it in but this one is in perfect condition. All the parts are there and are working. The guy was using it just last month. There is one thing I am not sure about and do not know why it is even part of it. I will have to read about it I guess.

Texan - Ha, you were the first one to comment on the homemade wine. I figured that would have gotten more comments than the stove.

  15. MDR,
I have always used "Stove Black" polish on mine, I think that paint would probably burn off. Love the little stove, it will look perfect in the bath house!

  16. ASR - Good luck in your search. Wow, $400 bucks, I guess I did get a deal. I am sure with that price it was fully restored and pretty, or at least it better have been.
    Thanks for stopping by.

Shar - You are right about the paint. I painted my smoker and just after a couple of uses it wore right off. I will look into the stove polish, thanks.

  17. Wow, what a cute stove! We were at a friend's house for the game yesterday and he had a (larger) wood-burning stove going. I grew up with two of them in my house - I miss them! My teenage self never thought I would say that, though!

Hey, I nominated you for an award :) Go here: http://hoglogfrog.blogspot.com/2012/02/my-first-ever-blog-award.html

  18. now that is a great trade bargain...ever since you mentioned the "wringer" i have been seeing wringer washers (parts and working machines) as well as old wood cookstoves in quite a few of the junk stores and flea markets around here...matter of fact, i bet that over the last two years the flea market/junk store population has nearly quadrupled...hmmmmm, must be the tanking economy, ya reckon?

  19. Kris - Thank you for the nomination.
We had a box stove in our house and loved backing up to it. There is nothing better than something to back up to so you can warm your butt.

Anony - I wished I could find a old kitchen wood stove. I have been looking for one of those for years and years.
I have seen a increase here as well and yes I do think it is because of the crap we are in.

  20. I'm brewing my own beer and having a blast. Some neighbors are talking about starting a little brew club.
I'm going to try to make wine with my grapes this year.

  21. ASR - Beer is the easiest thing to make bad and hardest thing to make good. I don't even mess with it anymore. Wine on the other hand is hard to mess up.
    A brew club sounds fun.
    Thanks for another great comment.

Kymber - You might be able to find one a little cheaper than that shipping cost but if you are willing to pay that much I will deliver it in person. COD
    Thanks for dropping back in.
